Bangalore celebrates with 200th flower show at Lalbagh botanical garden

One of the most awaited events in the Garden City of India is the Lalbagh flower show. Every year on Independence Day of India, a flower show is organized at the Lalbagh Botanical Garden in Bangalore. The event is jointly organised by Department of Horticulture and Mysore Horticulture Society of Karnataka.

2014 witnessed a spectacular flower show of herbal garden with 200 medicinal plant species. The 10 day lavishly staged floral extravaganza started on August 8 and went on till August 17, 2014. Among others, the event witnessed a 27-ft high floral replica of the Mysore palace which was recreated with 300,000 roses – red, white and yellow. Another attraction was the floral replica of famous Mysore Dasara procession which included elephants carrying the golden howdah and the statue of goddess Chamundi. There was also a floral replica of KR Circle in Mysore, housing Krishnaraja Wadiyar’s (Maharaja of the princely state of Mysore) idol inside the temporary temple porch (mandap).
