Invitation letter - seminar on Srimanta Sankaradeva's contributionsFor the exposure of Srimanta Sankardeva's cultural works and the Sankari culture, a seminar will be held in the premises of Madhupur Than in West Bengal on Sunday, November 23 along with cultural performances. The event is hosted by Society for Srimanta Sankaradeva, a community organisation in Guwahati engaged in promoting universal fraternity preached by Assam's Vaishnava saint Srimanta Sankaradeva. Several scholars from Kochbehar will speak on the life and works of Srimanta Sankaradeva in the seminar.

Eminent Sattriya Nritya exponent Sharodi Saikia along with several artists of Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha will attend the event. A lecture-cum-demonstration of Sattriya Nritya will be held by Prateesha Suresh from Mumbai in the seminar. Eminent artist Pabitrapran Bora, who is also the Cultural Secretary of Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha will perform Sutradhari Nritya. Manoj Kumar Das of Barpeta, who has performed in many places of India will perform solo Khol (Assamese musical instrument introduced by Sankardeva) recital.

  1. Several scholars from West Bengal will speak on the life and works of Srimanta Sankaradeva in the seminar. They are Dr Indrajit Ray, Vice Chancellor of Panchanan Varma University, Kochbehar, Dr Ananda Gopal Ghose, Retd. Professor of North Bengal University, Siliguri, Prasenjit Barman, former MP and Member of Kochbehar Debottar Trust, Dr Harigopal Mallik, Tufanganj College, Himadri Sankar Bhattacharjee, Kochbehar and Dr Nripendra Nath Paul, Kochbehar.

    The event will be graced by the newly elected President of Asom Sattra Mahasabha, Jitendra Pradhani, Babul Bora, Chief Secretary of Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha will also attend the seminar. President of Society for Srimanta Sankaradevadeva, Dr Sanjib Kumar Borkakoti will conduct the seminar. Eminent author, Dr Dinesh Baishya, Dean in the Centre for Media and Cultural Studies, University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya, Dr Karabi Deka Hazarika, Professor of Assamese, Dibrugarh University and several other scholars from Assam will participate in the seminar.
