Songdew celebrates World Music Day with #Thankyouforthemusic

21st June every year, the world comes together to celebrate the spirit of music and artists. This World Music Day, Songdew decided to not only bring music to underprivileged kids, but also empower them, with their initiative - #Thankyouforthemusic in collaboration with 100 Pipers which has been driving support for various social causes through its activation platform ‘Play for a cause’.

In a month long initiative, Songdew will host a series of activities, inviting musicians to pay tribute to people who have helped shape their music and career – their teacher, a legendary star, or even a musician on street. They would have to record and upload a one minute dedication video (sing or play) with a thank you note to their inspiration using the hashtag, #Thankyouforthemusic. In support, Songdew will donate to Music Basti, an organization that works with underprivileged kids, changing their lives through music. The endeavour is to donate Rupees INR 1 lacs to Music Basti.

On June 29 & 30, Songdew will also host two grand events at Hard Rock Café and Sutra at Cyber Hub, Gurgaon, with performances from some of the best bands from Delhi including Bandish, Zoya, Faridkot, Shadow and Light, Basanti aur Rezzah, Traffic Jam, Panic, Blending Chords and Raagleela. It is the biggest music festival of the season built for the great cause.

Shalini Behl, President, Songdew says “#Thankyouforthemusic is our way of acknowledging the effort & support of the music fraternity, not only the artists themselves, but every person who might have helped these musicians reach where they are today. What better way than to use the platform of World Music Day!"

Music binds people, hearts and human emotions. It has the power to change people, and to change lives. Their collaboration with Music Basti, to use the initiative of #Thankyouforthemusic, has the power to change life of underprivileged kids who are aspiring to be musicians. We are confident that more people will be encouraged to be a part of this initiative, and empower these children by making a tribute to their mento
